Conduit Capital Partners
Conduit Capital Partners is a private equity investment firm focused on the significant investment opportunities presented by the infrastructure industry in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Conduit team manages the Latin Power Funds, having established Latin Power I in 1993. Latin Power I was the first institutional-sized Latin America private equity fund with $100 million of capital. It was also the first private equity fund exclusively devoted to investing in infrastructure projects. The $393 million Latin Power III had its final closing in 2006. Latin Power I recently completed the sale of its remaining assets and has generated 2.2 times capital. Latin Power II has one remaining asset and is expected to generate 2.5 times capital. The Latin Power Funds have invested in Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Jamaica, Honduras, Costa Rica and Guatemala.
The projects invested in by the Latin Power Funds include the first independent power projects in Colombia, Honduras, Jamaica and Peru, the only privately owned hydro-electric power plants in Mexico, and the first privately owned natural gas pipeline that is part of PEMEX’s national gas transmission system. Latin Power III’s Kuntur subsidiary was just awarded a 30 year concession to build and operate a 700 mile natural gas pipeline to transport gas from the Camisea region of Peru through Cusco to Ilo on the Pacific coast.
Conduit Capital Partners, LLC is headed by J. Scott Swensen and George Osorio, who as Chairman and Managing Partner respectively, form the firm's management team. They are responsible for the ongoing management of the existing Latin Power Funds, developing further investment vehicles, and running day-to-day firm operations. Messrs. Swensen and Osorio, with the rest of Conduit’s team, bring to the Latin American infrastructure business extensive global finance and private equity investing skills earned from years of experience. This is combined with an extensive network of local market sources and global investor relationships to develop projects that create significant investment opportunities.
