John McCarthy, Managing Director, Global Head, RREEF Infrastructure



John is a Managing Director and is Head of RREEF Infrastructure Europe, based in London. In this role, he is responsible for managing the investment activities and ongoing expansion of RREEF Infrastructure’s business in Europe. During his tenure at RREEF Infrastructure, he successfully developed and led the portfolio strategy for PEIF I and this Fund. He has actively led and managed PEIF I’s investments in its six assets - Peel Ports, BAA Toggle, A5 Ostregion Motorway, Tank & Rast, Kelda Group and the Port of Lübeck. John joined RREEF Infrastructure in 2005 after seven years with ABN AMRO, where he was most recently Global Head of the Infrastructure Capital and Structured Capital Markets operations. He has gained deep infrastructure transaction experience throughout his 15 years of direct involvement in the sector, leading a wide range of significant transactions in Italy, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. At BZW (then a division of Barclays Bank), John was Head of Infrastructure Financing from 1993 to 1998, and as a result, was one of the early participants in infrastructure privatisation in Australia. John currently sits on the Board of Peel Ports and Tank & Rast. He holds a Bachelor of Economics and post graduate diploma in Finance and Banking from Monash University.

RREEF Infrastructure Europe

RREEF Infrastructure has been investing directly into Infrastructure for 16 years and currently manages in excess of US $8.0 billion.  We manage both commingled funds and separate accounts and our current portfolio contains 13 assets, across 6 geographic regions and 8 sectors.  RREEF Infrastructure is a pure fiduciary involved in the active management of its portfolio and while part of the Deutsche Bank Group has no pre-established ties to any of DB’s products or services.
