TDR Capital
TDR Capital was founded in 2002 by Manjit Dale and Stephen Robertson, formerly Managing Partners of DB Capital Partners, the European buyout division of Deutsche Bank. To date they have built an experienced team comprising five Partners, eight Operating Partners and a further nine Investment Professionals.
The firm strives to acquire control buyout investments of out-of-favour mid-market businesses in Western Europe, with an enterprise value of up to €1.5 billion. It targets companies that are most receptive to substantial operational enhancement and where there is an ability to amplify the effects of operational change.
TDR has an Operating Partner model that is core to the firm and fully integrated across origination teams and portfolio companies. The team takes an active role in the operations of its investments, working in partnership with management to solve problems together through board representation and professional support. It further enhances business platforms with add-on acquisitions or capital spend. TDR aims to de-risk investments early and lower effective entry multiples.
The team has strong proven capabilities in leisure and hospitality, financial services and business services; sectors where the TDR toolkit adds the most value.
TDR is currently investing its second fund of €2.2 billion. The TDR team is the largest single investor in this fund. Its first fund of €550 million was closed in 2003, has to date returned 2.1x the amounts invested with an internal rate of return of over 65%.
