During the 12 months since we first produced this volume, private equity firms operating in the Middle East and North Africa have continued their feverish activities. More capital has been raised, new investment opportunities identified, and the battle for private equity talent in MENA’s key markets is being fought as fiercely as ever. For those who have not seen it with their own eyes, a tour of the region can only be commended. People are hard at work, and the fruits of their labour are becoming more visible by the day.
Barring any external shocks to MENA’s geopolitical system, the coming years will see even greater efforts being made by the local private equity pioneers to achieve investment success tomorrow. Close to home and overseas, MENA investors see huge potential.
Realising it will require more hard work, a deft touch - and a little bit of good fortune too.
