The 2006 Emerging Markets Private Equity Forum

Emerging markets private equity is firmly on the map. As developed markets become increasingly saturated, exciting new frontiers and fast-developing regions are opening up to those seeking to deploy private capital. Fundraising in emerging markets more than tripled in 2005, topping the $21 billion mark; stock markets in many emerging economies are experiencing unprecedented levels of liquidity; and interest in emerging markets – from LPs and new fund managers alike – continues to grow.

Having set out to provide an introduction to emerging markets private equity in our inaugural Forum of 2005, the 2006 event put it in context. Through studying themes, concepts and directly applicable case studies, the Forum looked at concomitant issues that resonate across all emerging markets. Individual markets were examined in detailed roundtable sessions, and wider themes that arise again and again in a range of developing markets were discussed by some of the most knowledgeable commentators in the industry. The aim of this Forum remained consistent with its founding ideal: to provide the annual emerging markets private equity event held in Europe.

The Forum was designed to facilitate networking opportunities and dialogue between fund managers from the emerging markets and those elsewhere; private equity investors looking to diversify their allocations plus the legal, accounting and financial communities as well as specialist advisors and consultants.

Delegates were drawn from all parts of the private equity industry – LPs, GPs, DFIs, law firms, bankers and other service providers - and geographically from throughout the emerging and mature private equity markets.

Private Equity International and the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA) are delighted to work together once again to co-host this important event.
