With over 14 years of experience in the M&A industry, Fernando is General Manager for global Business Development for GE Oil & Gas, and a member of its senior management team. GE Oil & Gas is an $8BN business unit within General Electric Company. Fernando works very closely as well with GE’s Senior Vice President for Business Development at GE’s home offices in Fairfield, Connecticut. He is also a member of the Advisory Committee of a $2BN GE Infrastructure fund that makes small/medium size investments in emerging markets in the energy, transportation and health care industries.
In his current role, Fernando leads an organization that is responsible for market analysis, strategy development, deal origination and execution, both on the buy and sell side, as well as acquisition integration planning. Fernando has led a wide range of transactions for GE around the world including China, Russia, Africa in addition to, obviously, Europe and the United States. Most recently, he was responsible for the disposition of a large oil and gas business unit of GE, and the acquisitions of Vetco Gray and Hydril Pressure Control Equipment.
Prior to joining GE, Fernando spent over 6 years in private practice in New York City and Atlanta as an associate with two of the largest law firms in the country. There, he was involved in a broad range of public and private M&A and securities transactions, including tender offers, mergers and acquisitions, private equity as well as high yield offerings.
