Mr. Hemant Kanoria is the Chairman and Managing Director of Srei, which started its operations in 1989 with the objective of playing an active role in the infrastructure development in India.

Mr. Kanoria has successfully weaved a sound business model that has attracted international financial institutions like IFC - Washington, KfW and DEG - Germany, FMO - Netherlands, BIO - Belgium, FINFUND - Finland, Swedfund - Sweden, EBRD - London and BNP Paribas - France to become stakeholders.

His manifold business interests are reflected in the fact that he is a Director in Quippo Telecom Infrastructure Ltd, Quippo Oil & Gas Infrastructure Ltd, Srei Capital Markets Ltd., Srei Venture Capital Ltd. Bengal Shristi Infrastructure Development Ltd and DPSC Ltd.

Mr. Kanoria is also the member of several Chambers & Committees. He is presently the Member of National Council on Infrastructure and Economic Affairs Committee of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII); Member of the Managing Committee, Indian Chamber of Commerce; Council Member of the Indo German Chamber of Commerce and Member of Infrastructure Committee, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).

Mr. Kanoria has held several prominent positions in the past that include, President  - Calcutta Chamber of Commerce; Director - Board of Governors, Indian Institute of Management (Kolkata); Chairman - NBFC Task Force of FICCI, Member of Regional Direct Taxes Advisory Committee, Ministry of Finance, Government of India.
