Mete Çakmakcı, Secretary General, Technology Development Foundation of Turkey

Dr. A. Mete ÇAKMAKCI (B.S. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Middle East Technical University (1990), MSc in EE & Ph.D. with a degree minor in Manufacturing Engineering from Syracuse University (1993 and 1998)) is currently the Secretary General of TTGV. He has been working at TTGV since October 2003. Before joining TTGV he was the Business Development Manager of a private defense systems development and engineering firm specializing in military IT systems.
He represents TTGV in various government committees, assemblies and the boards and investment committees of venture capital and private equity investments including the Istanbul Venture Capital Initiative (iVCi), Teknoloji Yatirim A.S., TURKVEN TPEF-1 and Is Girisim A.S. He acts as a referee in various business plan competitions and teaches graduate and undergraduate level courses on technology and innovation management in various major universities. Mete Çakmakci was the TAFTIE Secretary (The Association for Technology Implementation in Europe) during TTGV's TAFTIE Chairmanship in 2007. He also assumed the responsibility of the chairman of the 6th Technology Awards Executive Committee in 2005.
Technology Development Foundation of Turkey
Technology Development Foundation of Turkey, TTGV, established in 1991 as a foundation under Turkish law, is a private entity with a public mission. TTGV's board of directors has both public and private sector representation. TTGV manages public funded national soft loan program for industrial R&D. In addition, TTGV is active in the field of venture capital and technology startups through its affiliated funds. TTGV's funding will be extended to cover the commercialization projects.
Recently, TTGV partnered with European Investment Fund and other Turkish investors to establish iVCi, Turkey's first and only fund of funds for VC/PE. Often cited as a best practice, TTGV completed programs funded by the World Bank and the European Commission and is a member of the TAFTIE, European Network of Innovation Agencies. TTGV's current program development focus is on early stage technology venture development, cluster management and regional innovation systems.
