Jennifer Choi, Director of Research, EMPEA
Jennifer joined EMPEA in 2006 as the organization’s first Director of Research. Jennifer oversees all of EMPEA’s research initiatives and publications, including EMPEA’s annual Survey of Limited Partner interest in the asset class. She led the creation of EMPEA’s database of private equity fundraising and investment activity in emerging markets, the industry’s first. Previously, Jennifer was a consultant with Boston-based Stax Inc., providing due diligence advisory services and portfolio company strategic planning for the private equity industry. Jennifer holds a Masters in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University and a B.A. in Economics and Political Science from Augustana College.
EMPEA
The Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA) is a non-profit, independent, global industry association that promotes greater understanding of and a more favorable climate for private equity and venture capital investing in the emerging markets of Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
EMPEA was founded in 2004 with the belief that private equity and venture capital can be critical drivers of economic growth in emerging markets while simultaneously generating strong returns for investors.
In support of its mission, EMPEA:
• Researches, analyzes and disseminates authoritative information on emerging markets private equity;
• Convenes meetings and conferences around the world to promote information exchange between leading fund managers and institutional investors;
• Offers professional development programs to enhance knowledge transfer; and,
• Collaborates with stakeholders from across the globe.
EMPEA’s members represent more than 50 countries and nearly $500 billion in assets under management.
