| Private Equity International Middle East Forum
Following the success of last year’s Private Equity International Middle East Forum – when around 250 senior participants attended – PEI is delighted to announce the launch of its seventh annual gathering in Dubai.
For 2011, the seminal annual meeting for the private equity industry in the Middle East North African region (MENA) continues to evolve. Having established itself as the destination meeting place for the most senior industry practitioners, investors, officials and advisors, the 2011 Forum is inviting this community to help map the contribution private equity can make to the economic evolution of the region
and beyond.
This year’s event will take place at a propitious time in the calendar. The global financial maelstrom finally feels like a distant memory. Dubai’s debt standstill now looks to have been a traffic-calming measure on the road to growth. And as the UAE continues to invest in its infrastructure and to build its capacity to act as the global hub for business the Forum will be looking at how private equity will drive growth in the region. From backing SMEs to big buyouts, private capital has a crucial role in the MENA region.
The Forum will tackle head-on the fundraising slow-down and what the implications might be for uninvested funds raised pre-crisis, the so-called “capital overhang”. We will examine the impact of global regulation on local markets and what practitioners need to do to get ready.
For these reasons and more, the 2011 Forum will not only examine specific issues specific to MENA fund managers and investors alike, but also will address issues and themes that matter to international practitioners across the globe.
In addition to receiving the latest empirical data on fundraising and returns in the MENA region, delegates will also hear about how to develop and refine emerging markets strategies in an increasingly competitive marketplace and crucially, the LP perspective on MENA fund managers and teams.
