Welcome to the third annual PEI Investor Relations & Communications Forum, hosted by PEI Conferences. We were pleased to continue providing an opportunity for the private equity investor relations and communications community to come together as a group to focus on the key challenges and issues they face on a daily basis.

Having an in-house strategic communications professional is no longer a luxury but a necessity. The investor relations role within the private equity industry continues to grow in importance, especially as more LPs with greater information needs commit to invest in the asset class. Firms are hiring dedicated investor relations and communications professionals as the era of dealmakers/partners fulfilling the role recedes. LPs are looking for increased detail and prompt delivery of information, requiring higher standards for investor relations professionals.
As the global private equity industry becomes more institutionalized, so too must the IR and marketing professionals within it to satisfy a broader range of constituencies from investors, the press, portfolio companies and others. Furthermore, as lawmakers, regulators and the general public become increasingly interested in the activities of private equity firms, private equity communicators find themselves defining and defending this growing industry.
The aim of the forum was to provide a unique platform for private equity investor relations and communications professionals to discuss the above issues for their benefit and the benefit of the industry as a whole. Leading experts, including experienced practitioners and expert advisors offered guidance on and solutions to marketing and branding challenges, managing LP expectations, legal and technology issues, and press relations among a host of other current topics.
"I find the Private Equity Investor Relations & Communications Forum to be the most practical and useful conference of all the major private equity conferences. For Marketing and Investor Relations professionals this is a must attend event. The conference is very "how to" oriented and is a great way to learn about or get updated on the best practices in everything from fundraising to investor reporting, to press relations and general marketing."

New for 2008 Highlights from ILPA/PEI Global Allocation Study
Produced in partnership by PEI Media, the publishers of Private Equity International magazine, and the Institutional Limited Partners Association, the association serving limited partner investors in the global private equity industry, the PEI-ILPA Global Limited Partners Survey is the most authoritative study yet on the allocations and appetites of the primary providers of capital to private equity funds. Those who attended the forum heard some of the key findings of the study.
By popular demand, the Compensation Survey will be back! Following the excitement created from last year’s results, investor relations and strategic communications professionals across the industry were sent a questionnaire ahead of the event that looks at compensation, benefits and strategy. The results were analyzed and presented at this event.
A premium was placed on networking at the event and we introduced an expanded networking break during the first morning designed to facilitate opportunities for delegates to meet their peers.
Those who attended the forum include:
• Investor Relations Directors and Professionals
• Directors of Marketing & Communications
• Public Relations Professionals
